Brewers one win from first championship after routing Rays in Game 3

The Milwaukee Brewers have positioned themselves to claim the first World Series title in franchise history following a commanding victory in Game 3 of the 2026 championship series. On Monday night, the team delivered an offensive rout while starting pitcher Robert Gasser provided a dominant performance, extending their series lead to three games and zero against the Tampa Bay Rays.

With this victory, the Brewers are now one win away from completing a historic sweep. If they win Game 4, which is scheduled for Tuesday night, October 27, they will secure the championship. The game is set to begin at 8 p.m. Eastern time and will be broadcast on Fox, Fox Deportes, and fubo.

The Rays entered the World Series as American League champions after defeating the Cleveland Guardians in Game 6 of the ALCS. Their path to the finals was highlighted by a massive home run from Junior Caminero. This marks the Rays' first appearance in the World Series since 2020 and only their third in franchise history, having previously lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008.

The Brewers, on the other hand, earned their spot in the finale by sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. This is the first World Series appearance for Milwaukee since 1982. Because neither the Brewers nor the Rays have ever won a World Series title, the outcome of this series will produce a new champion for the sport.

The current series scores reflect the Brewers' dominance. In Game 1 on Friday, October 23, Milwaukee won 3-2. The following day, on Saturday, October 24, the Brewers took Game 2 with a 5-4 victory. Monday's Game 3 saw the margin of victory expand significantly, with Milwaukee winning 10-1.

Should the series extend beyond Tuesday, Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, also at 8 p.m. Eastern. The series will move to Milwaukee for Games 6 and 7, which are designated as needed games. Game 6 is set for Friday, October 30, and Game 7 for Saturday, October 31. Both games will also air at 8 p.m. Eastern on the same broadcast networks.

The path to the World Series involved intense competition in the earlier playoff rounds. In the Wild Card Series, the Brewers advanced after a three-game series against the Padres, winning the decisive Game 4 on Wednesday, October 7. The Rays defeated the Yankees in a sweep during the Division Series, winning their final game on Wednesday, October 7 as well.

The National League Championship Series saw the Brewers maintain their momentum, sweeping the Dodgers in four games. They won Game 1 on Sunday, October 11, Game 2 on Monday, October 12, Game 3 on Wednesday, October 14, and secured the pennant in Game 4 on Thursday, October 15.

The American League Championship Series was more competitive, requiring six games for the Rays to defeat the Guardians. The Rays won the series on Monday, October 19, with a 7-3 victory in Game 6. This brings the two teams together in a matchup that has captured the attention of baseball fans nationwide.

As the series progresses, the focus remains on whether Milwaukee can finish the job in Tampa Bay. A win on Tuesday would conclude the 2026 World Series and cement the Brewers' place in baseball history as a first-time champion.
