Three members of Moldova's cabinet traveled to Kyiv alongside Prime Minister Vasile Tofan on Monday, October 26. The delegation included Vladimir Bolea, minister of infrastructure and regional development; Anatolie Nosatîi, the defense minister; and Dorin Junghietu, the energy minister. Their presence signals the technical depth of the agenda, which spans security, trade, and energy infrastructure.

Tofan's schedule includes high-level meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi, and Ruslan Stefanchuk, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada. The Moldovan government announced that the prime ministers' discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding economic and trade cooperation. Both leaders also plan to address the path toward European Union membership for their respective nations.

Energy security remains a central component of the visit. On October 14, Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Tofan to discuss winter preparations and common challenges in the energy sector. Two days prior, on October 12, Tofan stated that Moldova was considering purchasing natural gas from Ukraine to satisfy domestic needs. He indicated that he intended to finalize details of such potential purchases during this trip.

The economic dimension of the visit extends to the Kyiv International Economic Forum. Tofan and Koretskyi are scheduled to participate in the event, which centers on investment opportunities and the development of economic partnerships. These themes mirror the bilateral agenda set by the Moldovan government for the working visit.

The trip follows remarks by Moldovan President Maia Sandu regarding regional humanitarian needs. She stated that Moldova is prepared to receive additional refugees from Ukraine should the severe humanitarian situation prompt further departures. Her comments addressed the country's readiness to accept new arrivals if those conditions materialize.

The visit was reported by European Pravda, citing the Moldovan media outlet Newsmaker. Newsmaker referred to an official statement from the Moldovan government confirming the itinerary and the presence of the three cabinet ministers in the Ukrainian capital.
