Brevard Public Schools will reopen on Thursday, Nov. 5, after closing for three days due to severe flooding.
The district suspended classes on Monday, Nov. 3, when heavy rains inundated streets and neighborhoods across the county. Officials confirmed that all campuses have completed safety assessments and are ready for students and staff to return.
School buses will run on their regular schedules, though delays are possible in areas still dealing with floodwater. Before- and after-school care programs, along with all athletic activities, will operate normally.
The district stated that any storm-related absences will be excused. This policy acknowledges that many families are still managing the aftermath of the weather event.
Officials noted that several schools in southern Brevard County remain under a boil-water notice. The district said it has added precautions at these sites to protect health and safety. Families at affected schools will receive direct communication with further guidance.
In a statement, the district thanked the community for its patience and cooperation during the recovery period. "Our hearts are with the families and communities impacted by the widespread flooding," the district wrote.
