President Donald Trump returned to South Carolina on Thursday, marking his second visit to the state in a month. His presence in Rock Hill signaled deepening concern within the Republican Party about Darline Graham’s ability to hold her seat against a competitive challenge from Democrat Annie Andrews.

Graham, the sister of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, was appointed by Gov. Henry McMaster in July to finish her brother’s term. She became the party nominee in August for the full six-year position. Andrews, a pediatrician who previously lost a congressional race, is pitching herself as a fresh option for voters.

"I got you into this thing, Darline," Trump told the audience, referencing his role in encouraging her to run. He added that Graham possesses the political instincts of her late brother, stating, "She’s got the gene."

Graham spoke before the president, praising his administration for delivering on long-promised goals. She warned that Andrews would discard the party’s progress if elected. In a separate stop in Fort Mill on Wednesday, Andrews told voters that if they hire her and dislike her work, they can replace her in six years.

The race has drawn attention from voters who feel the political system is stagnant. Brent Chaplin, a 37-year-old registered Republican in finance, said he supports Andrews despite his party label. He advised voters to look beyond partisan loyalty when selecting candidates.

Benjamin Updegraft, a 32-year-old software engineer, expressed frustration with the idea of a family dynasty in the Senate. "The Senate is not an inherited position," he said. "This is not a country where these noble titles are passed down between families."

While focused on South Carolina, Trump also addressed races in North Carolina, Michigan, Texas, Minnesota, and Alaska. He specifically targeted the Alaska Senate race, calling for a investigation into a reported effort by the Democratic campaign to recruit a candidate with the same name as incumbent Dan Sullivan.

Trump called the Alaska situation a "conspiracy" and suggested Democrat Mary Peltola should be removed from the ballot. Peltola’s campaign did not immediately respond to the governor’s order to investigate. A rally planned for Kansas on Saturday has been changed to a virtual tele-rally to support Sen. Roger Marshall. Trump will hold similar virtual events in twenty-four states in the next few days.
