Inglewood, California. The NFL, Apple Music, and rapper Jay-Z announced this Monday that the musician will headline the halftime show for Super Bowl LXI. The game is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at the SoFi Stadium.
The news broke during a Monday night football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. In a statement, Jay-Z reflected on his career trajectory, stating, “From ‘Reasonable Doubt’ to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey.” He described the upcoming performance as a dream realized after thirty years of music and work.
Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s management company, has produced the Super Bowl halftime shows since 2019. The company recently signed a five-year extension that keeps it in charge of the production through 2029. Under Roc Nation’s direction, the halftime performances have shifted more heavily toward hip-hop and rap artists.
The previous Super Bowl halftime show took place in 2025 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. That edition featured Bad Bunny, with special appearances by Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. The last Super Bowl held in Los Angeles was in 2022. That show featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar, along with 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak.
Other recent halftime performers include Kendrick Lamar and SZA in 2025, Usher in 2024, and Rihanna in 2023. Despite his close ties to the NFL and the many artists who have performed in the past, this will be Jay-Z’s first time taking the stage at the Super Bowl.
The 25-time Grammy winner has been on tour this year to mark the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint. The Jay-Z 30 tour began with three nights at Yankee Stadium in July. He then performed two concerts in London and one in Paris in September.
Jay-Z’s final scheduled tour dates are October 23 and October 24 at the SoFi Stadium. These two nights will take place in the same venue where he will perform at the Super Bowl next February.
