Michigan will print nine new "I Voted" stickers for the 2026 midterm election, ending the run of a previous state series. The State of Michigan Department of State released the new collection for distribution at polling locations. Voters can choose a sticker on a first-come, first-served basis.

The nine designs feature original, nonpartisan artwork created by Michigan residents. The winners include K-12 students from Romulus, Detroit, and Dearborn Heights. Three other designs were selected from general entry categories in Woodhaven, Redford Township, and Oak Park. Themes in the collection include U.S. flags and Michigan landmarks.

The sticker tradition in the United States dates back to the 1980s. Communities and states have historically created unique designs for Election Day. The first statewide contest in Michigan took place in 2024. That series featured a werewolf design by Grosse Pointe student Jayne Hynous. The popularity of that specific image drove individual sticker sales to higher prices in the secondary market.

Local election clerks are also running their own competitions. In Monroe, a contest open to students ages 5 through 18 produced five winning designs. The city will print ten total sticker variations for use on Election Day. Huntington Woods is tying its sticker contest to its centennial celebrations. The city will announce its winning artist on Tuesday before distributing the design to voters.

Stickers are available at precincts on Election Day. Some locations also offer them during early in-person voting. The state collection is distinct from these local efforts, though all serve the same purpose for voters casting ballots in the November 3 election.
