San Diego County officials will publish the first batch of unofficial election results at 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, according to the Registrar of Voters.
The initial report covers mail ballots received prior to Election Day and votes cast at local centers through Monday, November 2. After polls close at 8 p.m. Tuesday, the reporting schedule pauses while workers secure and transport ballots from more than 200 vote centers to the registrar’s office.
Updates released later on Tuesday night will include only ballots cast at vote centers that can be processed immediately. The final update for the night may arrive around 1 a.m. Wednesday. The registrar mailed ballots to over 2 million voters. Mail ballots dropped off on Election Day or postmarked by November 3 and received within seven days will be counted after election night. Staff must verify signatures before adding these votes to the total.
Residents who missed the registration deadline can cast provisional ballots until 8 p.m. Tuesday. The office must verify their eligibility before counting those ballots.
The registrar plans to post additional unofficial results by 6 p.m. Thursday, November 5, Friday, November 6, and Monday, November 9. The office may issue further updates as counting continues. Results remain unofficial until certification, which is due by December 3. The registrar expects to use the full certification period.
Election night results will appear at www.sdvote.com and x.com/SDVOTE. The county will post subsequent updates and certified results on its election website. Voters can contact the registrar at 858-565-5800 or toll-free at 800-696-0136.
