The Orlando pizza scene saw four major shifts in late October. Two new locations opened for business, and two established shops closed their kitchens, marking a period of change for local diners.

Pizza Post, an independent shop, opened in the Oaks at Lake Mary on 3005 W. Lake Mary Blvd. The new restaurant occupies the former Pizza Hut space. The menu features artisanal pies made with daily dough from all-natural, unbleached, and unbromated flour. Bakers use a HearthStone oven deck to create a crisp bottom and a tender interior for each pie.

Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza also expanded its footprint in the area. The chain opened a new location at Waterford Lakes Town Center. This addition brings the total number of Mister O1 spots in the Orlando region to four, joining existing restaurants in Oviedo, Dr. Phillips, and Lake Mary.

Black Magic Pizza served its final pie from the pickup window at Whiskey Lou’s after three years in business. Founder Traviss Santos confirmed that the next chapter for the brand is currently in the works. He indicated that the closure is temporary as the team prepares for its next phase.

Pizza Bruno College Park fired its last tomato pie on Saturday, Nov. 7, ending a three-and-a-half-year run. Owner Bruno Zacchini said he is refocusing his efforts on the original Pizza Bruno location on Curry Ford to improve its quality. Zacchini handed the College Park store to Daniel Pacchioni of Pacchioni’s World-Inspired Cheesesteaks, which has rebranded as Pacchioni’s Cheesesteaks & Pizza.
