Flooding persists across central-east Florida counties after more than 20 inches of rain fell on the region.

The National Weather Service extended the flood watch for Brevard and Volusia counties until 10:00 a.m. on November 3. A separate flood warning remains active for parts of Brevard and Indian River counties until 9:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Rainfall totals in the warned area reached between 16 and 22 inches, with an additional 1 to 2 inches possible.

Authorities warned that saturated ground caused rivers and streams to overflow their banks. Low-drainage areas remain underwater. The NWS predicted that rainfall on November 3 would be less intense than the downpour recorded on Monday.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed Executive Order 26-227 on November 2 to declare a state of emergency for seven counties. The order includes Brevard County. The Florida Division of Emergency Management is coordinating with local partners to expedite resources and assistance to impacted communities.

The Brevard School District canceled all classes through Tuesday. Students are expected to return to school on Wednesday. Rainfall conditions in other central Florida counties are improving, though isolated showers are possible during the day.
