Brightline suspended train service between Orlando and West Palm Beach until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, due to high water along the rail corridor in Brevard County. The high-speed rail operator announced the pause to allow crews to inspect tracks, signals, and crossings before passenger service resumes.
Torrential rain has hit Florida’s central east coast and inland counties, causing road flooding and school closures. Southern Brevard County received between 16 and 22 inches of rain since midnight. The deluge has flooded communities stretching from Melbourne south to Grant-Valkaria.
Service between West Palm Beach and Miami remains normal, including stops in Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, and Boca Raton. Brightline advised travelers to check its website and app for the latest status updates.
The National Weather Service forecasts scattered showers and storms for Tuesday and Wednesday. An additional 1 to 2 inches of rain is possible in some areas, which could worsen existing flooding. Rain chances are expected to drop from Thursday through the weekend as drier air moves into the region.
High temperatures will stay in the low to mid-80s, with overnight lows in the 60s and low 70s. A stronger cold front may approach Central Florida early next week, bringing another shift in weather conditions.
Officials urged residents to avoid flooded roads and never drive through standing water. Additional rain is possible through Tuesday morning, potentially intensifying the current flooding situation.
