The Florida Highway Patrol arrested Jean S. Dorisca, 48, on Thursday in Boca Raton on an Osceola County felony warrant charging him with three counts of vehicular homicide. Troopers located Dorisca at a Boca Raton home on Wednesday and took him into custody the next day. He was booked at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Detention Center and remains held pending extradition to Osceola County.

FHP said Dorisca was among its most wanted fugitives after the July 16, 2024 crash and his subsequent evasion of arrest. Investigators report Dorisca attempted to pass a semi-truck in a designated no-passing zone on State Road 60 near the Polk-Osceola County line and collided with oncoming traffic. The wreck killed three people, including Dorisca's mother.

Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Executive Director Dave Kerner said the Criminal Alien Apprehension Team handled the case. "For more than two years, this fugitive evaded accountability for a crash that claimed the lives of three innocent motorists," Kerner said. "Thanks to the relentless work of our Criminal Alien Apprehension Team, Jean Dorisca has been taken into custody and will now face the criminal charges associated with this tragic crash."

FHP identified Dorisca as a Haitian national and a lawful permanent resident of the United States. The agency stated his arrest could result in the revocation of that legal status.

Dorisca faces up to 45 years in Florida state prison on the three vehicular homicide counts, according to FHP. He remains in custody at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Detention Center pending extradition to Osceola County.
