The Washington Commanders defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10 on Sunday night in Landover, Maryland.
Washington entered the game with a 2-4-1 record after coming off a bye week. The team had not won in more than a month. Philadelphia entered the contest with a six-game losing streak and sits in last place in the NFC East.
The Eagles took a 10-0 lead in the first quarter. Saquon Barkley ran for a three-yard touchdown score. The Commanders committed several penalties during that opening period, which allowed Philadelphia to build its initial advantage.
Washington kicker Drew Stevens missed a 55-yard field goal attempt early in the game. Defensive end Chig Okonkwo also lost a fumble during the first quarter. Despite these errors, the Commanders managed to tie the score at 10-10 before halftime.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels connected with wide receiver Stefon Diggs for an eight-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. That score tied the game. Washington led 13-10 at the break after Stevens kicked a 56-yard field goal late in the first half.
The Commanders defense dominated the second half. They held the Eagles to zero points for the final three and a half quarters. Washington sacked Eagles quarterback Tanner McKee five times and intercepted one of his passes. The Eagles totaled 268 yards of offense, but only 199 of those yards came before the final meaningless drive.
McKee threw for 212 yards without a touchdown in his third start of the season. He replaced the injured Jalen Hurts. Saquon Barkley carried the ball 13 times for 30 yards, giving Philadelphia a total of 91 yards on the ground.
Daniels finished the game with 217 passing yards and one touchdown. He took a hard hit during the final drive of the first half and was slow to get to his feet, but he remained in the game. This marked Daniels' first win as a starter since defeating the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 5, 2025.
Eagles coach Nick Sirianni noted that the team must fix its issues to avoid this feeling for the remaining six games. "Everyone is going to give us their best shot," Sirianni said. "I know nobody feels sorry for us and we have to do everything we can do to fix it so we don't have this feeling for the last six games. Obviously, it sucks."
The Eagles host the New York Giants on Sunday. The Commanders will host the Los Angeles Rams the following Sunday. Safety Michael Carter of the Eagles suffered an abdominal injury. Commanders running back Jeremy McNichols left the game in the second half with a left foot injury.
