The Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Baltimore Ravens by a 23-point margin on Thursday night, extending their winning streak to five games and taking control of the AFC South division. The final score was 33-10 in a game played in the rain at M&T Bank Stadium.
Trevor Lawrence completed passes for 242 yards and one touchdown. He found Parker Washington for a 50-yard scoring play with 58 seconds remaining in the second quarter. That score gave the Jaguars a 17-3 lead at the half. Lawrence described the opening drive as a way to set the tone for the team.
Baltimore faced severe personnel challenges at quarterback. Both Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley are listed on injured reserve. Rookie Joe Fagnano started the game, marking his second appearance of the season. He completed 10 of 18 pass attempts for 60 yards. He was intercepted twice in the second half. The Ravens also lost a fumble on a kick return.
Coach Jesse Minter addressed the roster issues before the game. He told his players there were no excuses for missing starters. The Ravens relied on Wildcat formations, snapping the ball directly to running back Derrick Henry. Coach Liam Coen said the Jaguars practiced those plays extensively in preparation.
Jacksonville took an early lead on the first possession. They moved 77 yards down the field and scored on a 1-yard run by Bhayshul Tuten. The Jaguars protected the ball throughout the night and avoided high-risk plays. They currently lead the AFC South by three and a half games.
The Ravens struggled to sustain drives in the second half. After a fumble recovery gave them the ball at midfield in the third quarter, they turned it over on downs. The home crowd voiced its frustration with loud boos. Tight end Mark Andrews said the team needed to stay united and rely on each other despite the circumstances.
Baltimore managed its first touchdown after halftime since Week 5 with 11 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Justice Hill ran 65 yards for the score. That run broke Jacksonville’s 24-game streak of keeping opposing rushers under the 75-yard mark. Hill finished the game with 85 yards on nine carries.
The loss marks the first time in franchise history that the Ravens have dropped three consecutive games by 20 points or more. They previously lost 35-13 to Cincinnati and 36-10 to Buffalo. The Ravens are now 4-5 on the season. They await the arrival of veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett while dealing with other injuries.
Baltimore was also without starting cornerback Nate Wiggins due to an illness. Star safety Kyle Hamilton exited the game with a hip injury. The Jaguars will play at Tennessee on November 15. The Ravens will host the Los Angeles Chargers on November 16.
