Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 28, ahead of Sunday's game at Buffalo. Jackson has missed three games since injuring his ankle on Oct. 7. "I think the more you're able to do and respond from and feel from certainly raises your optimism," coach Jesse Minter said Wednesday. "But again, we'll kind of see how it goes throughout the week."

**What the team has said about the injury.** Minter declined to pin down a timeline on Oct. 7, saying, "There's a lot of time between now and Sunday.. There will be a point later in the week where we will figure out kind of where it is at." Jackson told reporters last week that he was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain. "I'm just trying to move how I move," Jackson said. "If I can't do that, I can't help my team."

**A pattern dating to 2022.** When Jackson hurt his knee against Denver in 2022, then-coach John Harbaugh said the issue was not season-ending. Jackson did not play again that season. More than a month later, with a playoff game approaching, Jackson wrote on social media that he had a grade 2 PCL sprain and his knee remained unstable. In 2025, Jackson hurt a hamstring in Week 4; Baltimore lost its next two games and fell to 1-5 before he returned after the bye week. Jackson later said that return was premature: "I feel like that was dumb a little bit.. I'm not to my full capabilities, not even close to it."

**Jackson's history of missing time.** Since becoming a starter in 2019, Jackson ranks seventh in starts among NFL quarterbacks, behind fellow MVPs Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. Joe Burrow and Brock Purdy have dealt with injuries as well. Jackson has also drawn criticism for attending voluntary offseason practices. His contract talks have been public: he finished his rookie deal, Baltimore applied the franchise tag after 2022, and a collusion case involving his situation went to arbitration before the sides reached an agreement.

Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey addressed the questions around Jackson's availability. "I don't know if it's because of lack of agent or what, that no one can kind of defend him," Humphrey said. "I do know this: If Lamar Jackson can play, if he's healthy enough to play, he will play, and that's kind of all I can say on that."

According to overthecap.com, Jackson carries a cap hit of about $84 million in 2027, the final year of his contract. He turns 30 in January. Jackson was the MVP in 2023 and an All-Pro in 2024.

The Ravens play at Buffalo on Sunday.
