The Tampa Bay Rays beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 in 12 innings Tuesday night at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, avoiding a World Series sweep and cutting their series deficit to 3-1. The best-of-seven series continues with Game 5 on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Eastern at Tropicana Field.

Milwaukee had taken the first two games at American Family Field and also won Game 3 at Tropicana Field before Tuesday's result. The Rays ended the Brewers' eight-game winning streak. Milwaukee had been seeking to become only the second club to sweep a league championship series and the World Series in the same postseason.

Tampa Bay now stands as the fifth of 26 teams in World Series history to win Game 4 after falling behind 3-0. The four previous teams to do so all lost Game 5. Across all best-of-seven postseason series, 43 teams have trailed 3-0, and only the Boston Red Sox recovered to win, defeating the New York Yankees in the 2004 American League Championship Series.

Jacob Misiorowski, a National League Cy Young Award candidate, is scheduled to start Game 5 for Milwaukee. The Brewers entered the series having won eight straight games.
