Louis Whudmayer and his family lost their home in the middle of the night when a truck drove into the wall. The house is now condemned, and the family is searching for a new place to live. Their 7-year-old dog, Ginger, was found dead in the wreckage.
The crash happened around 2 a.m. on Oct. 19, 2026. Whudmayer woke up to a loud noise and saw the vehicle stopped inside the home. He said the truck came to rest just five feet from where he and his wife were sleeping with their young children. The impact destroyed furniture and personal belongings, though no human family members were physically injured.
Police arrested 30-year-old Marcus Zamora at the scene. He was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. During that visit, the arrest report notes Zamora told staff, “I shouldn't have been drinking and driving.” He is charged with driving under the influence causing property damage or injury.
Whudmayer described the event as traumatic for the group. He questioned why the driver chose to drive instead of calling an Uber or a family member. “Five more feet, that would have been in our bed, and my wife and I and our kids wouldn't have been here,” Whudmayer said. The family is currently sorting through salvageable items inside the damaged structure.
Ocoee Police continue to urge residents to avoid drinking and driving. The department released details of the crash and the arrest report to the public. The family is now focused on finding a new home while the investigation proceeds.
