Arizona freshman wide receiver R.J. Mosley left the field on a cart late in the third quarter of the Wildcats' 34-26 loss at No. 13 Texas Tech on Saturday, Oct. 31, in Lubbock, Texas. His left leg was in a cast when he was loaded onto the cart.
Arizona officials said after the game that Mosley was taken to a local hospital for evaluation of a lower leg injury. They released no further details. Play developed on a third-and-18 when Mosley caught a short pass and was hit by Texas Tech cornerback Amier Boyd. He came up short of the first down marker, reached for his left knee while sitting, then lay down on the field.
Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita knelt in prayer as staff attended to Mosley. Teammates gathered near him while the crowd applauded as the cart drove off. ESPN chose not to air a replay of the hit.
The Wildcats entered the game missing top receiver Tre Spivey, whose season ended with a broken foot. Receivers Giovanni Richardson and Chris Hunter had missed time earlier but suited up against the Red Raiders. Mosley is a freshman on the Arizona roster. Texas Tech entered the game ranked No. 13 and Arizona No. 22.
