Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks was ejected from the team's Friday night NBA Cup game against the Denver Nuggets after kicking guard Jamal Murray in the groin. The incident occurred during the third quarter and resulted in an automatic removal from the game following a review by the officials.

The play began with Brooks attempting a turnaround jumper while Murray guarded him. As Brooks fell backward, he kicked his right leg forward. The leg made contact with Murray, who was called for an offensive foul initially. Murray lay on the court writhing in pain for several moments before getting up and remaining in the game.

The game officials reviewed the footage of the incident. They upgraded the initial call to a Flagrant 2 foul. Under NBA rules, a Flagrant 2 foul mandates an automatic ejection for the player involved. Brooks left the court shortly after the review was completed.

At the time of his ejection, Brooks was the leading scorer for the Suns. He had recorded 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field. The game took place in Phoenix, where the Suns hosted the Denver Nuggets for the matchup.
