The Milwaukee Brewers face a decisive opportunity on Monday night in Tampa Bay. The team has won the first three games of the 2026 World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. A victory in Game 4 would secure a four-game sweep.

Such a result would grant the Brewers their first World Series championship in franchise history. It would also place them in rare historical company. Only one other team has ever swept both the League Championship Series and the World Series: the 1976 Cincinnati Reds.

Historical data shows 21 sweeps in the history of the World Series. The American League accounts for 13 of these occurrences. The National League has eight. The New York Yankees have delivered eight of the 13 American League sweeps.

In the National League, the Giants have recorded three sweeps. The Cincinnati Reds have two. The most recent sweep occurred in 2012 when the San Francisco Giants defeated the Detroit Tigers. The list of sweeping teams includes the Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Dodgers, and New York Giants.

The Brewers have dominated the series so far. They now stand one win away from completing the season with a perfect record. The outcome in Tampa Bay will determine whether they join the 1976 Reds as the only team to achieve this dual sweep feat.
