SLR Food Distribution Inc. issued a voluntary recall for Wise Wife Brand Ground Cinnamon on October 30.

The move affects 14 states as the holiday season approaches. The company cited potential contamination with elevated levels of lead in the product.

The recall covers items sold between September 8, 2025, and June 28, 2026. Retailers in Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin stocked the affected batches. Shoppers should look for clear plastic containers weighing 110 grams with a black screw-top cap. The best-before date on the label is April 25, 2027, and the UPC code on the back is 0688474302754.

The recall notice states that lead exposure can impact nearly every bodily system. Effects depend on dosage, duration, and the individual's age and weight. Short-term exposure to low levels may not produce immediate symptoms. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this specific product.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled cinnamon. The company asks buyers to throw the product away or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. No specific next steps for a potential re-release have been announced.
