USC upset No. 2 Ohio State 30-18 on Saturday night at the Coliseum.

Jayden Maiava threw for 222 yards and a touchdown for the Trojans, who improved to 7-2 and 4-2 in the Big Ten. King Miller and Waymond Jordan each ran for scores, and USC added a third field goal with 1:46 remaining. Freshman Trent Mosley caught a 69-yard pass behind the line of scrimmage on USC's second snap and outran Ohio State's secondary for the score. He finished with five catches for 101 yards. Ohio State had not allowed a play longer than 36 yards this season. Mosley also returned a punt 44 yards and caught an 18-yard pass to set up Jordan's 9-yard touchdown run.

USC's defense kept Ohio State out of the end zone for the first 57 minutes. Ohio State's Luke Fahey, making his first career start in place of the injured Julian Sayin, passed for 260 yards and went 21 for 38. Bo Jackson rushed for 121 yards and Jeremiah Smith had 10 receptions for 83 yards. Ohio State put up 464 total yards but settled for three field goals on its first five drives, including a series that reached the USC 1 shortly before halftime. Ohio State's first touchdown came on Smith's 1-yard catch with 2:12 left. The Buckeyes failed the try for two points, USC recovered the ensuing onside kick, and Isaiah West fumbled in USC territory earlier in the second half. Miller scored after freshman tight end Mark Bowman hauled in a 70-yard reception, breaking tackles and hurdling a defender.

The Buckeyes fell to 6-2 and 4-1 in conference play. Ohio State has not lost two games this early since 2011. The loss left the Buckeyes 58-2 against unranked teams under Ryan Day. USC students and fans came onto the field afterward; the Trojans had not beaten a top-five opponent at the Coliseum since 2015. The win also marked the first top-12 victory of Lincoln Riley's five seasons at USC, coming one week after a 24-7 loss at Wisconsin. Ohio State hosts Oregon on Saturday. USC is off before visiting Indiana on Nov. 14.
