The NFL trade deadline is set for Nov. 10, and the league is split between teams that have already sold their veterans and those still deciding their strategy.

Tennessee and Indianapolis have made their intentions clear by trading their best defenders. The Titans sent All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to Chicago. In return, they received first-round picks for 2027 and 2028, a fourth-round pick in 2027, and a fifth-round pick in 2028. The Colts traded eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to San Francisco for a third-round pick in 2027 and a fifth-round pick in 2028. They also sent DeForest Buckner to the 49ers for a fourth-round pick in 2027.

Both teams may continue to sell. Tennessee is looking to move running back Tony Pollard, safety Amani Hooker, and edge rusher Jermaine Johnson. Indianapolis could get a strong return for running back Jonathan Taylor and wide receiver Josh Downs.

The Los Angeles Chargers are 0-6, making them the only winless team in the NFL. They are positioned as sellers. Veteran edge rusher Khalil Mack is still productive but is now a situational player. Cornerback Donte Jackson has value in the market. Wide receiver Quentin Johnston is young enough to be part of a rebuild if the team keeps him. Quarterback Justin Herbert has a full no-trade clause, which limits his availability. A trade would create dead cap hits of $31.6 million this year and $50.4 million in 2027.

The Miami Dolphins are 1-5 and need young talent. They could trade defensive tackle Zach Sieler, right tackle Austin Jackson, and edge rusher Josh Uche for draft picks. Linebacker Jordyn Brooks is coming off an All-Pro season and could become a core player if he stays.

The Arizona Cardinals are 2-5. They have edge rusher Josh Sweat and safety Budda Baker available on the open market. Both players would likely fetch high returns. The team already traded wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Texans. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett could be moved to allow rookie Carson Beck to play, and backup quarterback Gardner Minshew is expendable.

The New York Jets are 2-5 and hold three first-round picks in 2027 from last year’s trades. They are in rebuild mode and view additional picks as beneficial. Wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall would command the best returns. Pass rusher Will McDonald, a former first-round pick, will also attract interest.

The Washington Commanders are 1-4-1 after reaching the NFC championship game following the 2024 season. They could trade defensive tackle Daron Payne, wide receiver Steefon Diggs, and edge rushers K’Lavon Chaisson and Dorance Armstrong Jr. The team may adopt a sell and buy strategy to add young talent with upside, such as receiver Brian Thomas Jr. from Jacksonville.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 2-5 but remain in the race in the NFC South. A win over Atlanta on Sunday would put them half a game behind Carolina for first place. A loss would keep them in the mix, but a road loss to Chicago next week could lead to a 2-7 record. If that happens, general manager Jason Licht might stock up on draft picks. Players like Chris Godwin Jr., Yaya Diaby, A’Shawn Robinson, Kenneth Gainwell, and Antoine Winfield Jr. could be available. Defensive tackle Vita Vea has value but carries a 2027 dead cap hit of $19.7 million if traded.

The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-5 and have lost five straight games due to injuries. They will not have quarterback Jalen Hurts for the rest of the season. If they beat the Commanders and Giants in the next two games, they remain in the NFC East race. Otherwise, GM Howie Roseman may unload talent. He already traded Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens to Baltimore. Saquon Barkley is under contract through 2028 with $2.5 million guaranteed next year, making him an attractive trade candidate for contending teams. Other players who could move include Zach Baun, Riq Woolen, Landon Dickerson, and Dallas Goedert.
